Introduction to Concept Art & Illustration Overview

In just 6 months, our online concept art for beginners course increases your skills and confidence in Adobe Photoshop, the industry-standard software used to create artwork for movie and video games. Learn essentials such as creating thumbnails, digital painting and lighting, to finalizing and creating polished pieces for your portfolio.

When you enroll in our course you’ll be matched with an industry mentor who has worked with top studios like Electronic Arts and Disney. Your mentor helps you grow as an artist by providing personalized feedback on your assignments and encouraging you to challenge yourself in new ways.

Classes are held online via live video calls, and can be taken as small group or private 1-on-1 classes. This personal approach offers a better, more efficient way to learn concept art.

After completing the course, you have the option to continue your journey with the Advanced Concept Art Diploma or the Advanced Illustration Diploma.

Discuss indirect versus direct design briefs, plus how to develop ideas based on information you’re given. Play with various image formats and learn how to professionally present your work.

Ideation Process & Environment Design

Learn concept art techniques that make your work pop! Discover how to enhance your artwork using color and light to add depth, mood and contrast. Create quick thumbnail sketches, then add a cleaned-up line layer over top of your sketch so you can start mapping out values that separate design elements within assets. Next add lighting and volume to make a convincing 3D asset. You’ll finish with a fully rendered portfolio piece.
