Maxine and Senior AI game programmer, Firas Hosn (Farcry 3, 4, 5; Assassin’s Creed 3) cover a lot of ground in this week’s episode of The CG Spectrum Podcast! They talk about what machine learning can do for games, finding your niche in the industry, passing on good coding habits through mentorship, technical vs. managerial roles, and combatting burnout in order to maintain that all-important work-life balance.
From the very first time Firas was able to change the color of a pixel and move an object around the screen through his code, he knew game development was what he wanted to do.Firas' first game programming job was at Silicon Knights, later moving to Ubisoft where he worked on the Far Cry franchise, Assassin's Creed 3, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Your Shape, and Watchdogs 2/3. He is now working as a Senior AI Programmer at Splash Damage and shares his expertise with CG Spectrum students in the Game Programming Courses.
