Hosted by Senior FX Artist and CG Spectrum's Dept. Head of VFX Daniel Hourigan (Aquaman, Game of Thrones, John Wick 3), join our free discovery session to learn what exactly visual effects (VFX) is, how it's used in film and games, and how you can create impressive effects (FX) on your computer using industry-standard software SideFX Houdini!
Houdini is a 3D procedural software commonly used by FX artists to create on-screen effects like smoke, fire, explosions, destruction, water simulations, magical elements, the movement of cloth and fur, and so much more!
During the session, Daniel will demonstrate how to build a simple but impressive explosion in Houdini and explore ways an FX artist could use this explosion technique to create bigger and more powerful film and game-quality blasts.
There'll also be a chance to ask questions during our Q&A!
