- 06 Shaders & Final Presentation
Introduction to Foliage Workflows for Games
Kick off the course with an overview of how foliage fits into modern game development. You’ll explore professional pipelines, asset requirements, and how foliage impacts world-building and performance. By the end of this session, you’ll understand the full journey from concept to in-engine presentation.
Getting Started with SpeedTree
Learn the fundamentals of SpeedTree, the industry-standard tool for vegetation modeling. You’ll dive into the interface, essential functions, and best practices for building procedural assets that can be customized and reused across projects.
Level & Environment Design
Environments shape how players experience your game. In this module, you’ll learn the principles of level design, including map layout, scale, navigation flow, and visual storytelling. You’ll practice using UEFN tools to build engaging environments, from landscapes to playable spaces that encourage exploration. By the end, you’ll have created a basic but polished level that feels immersive and functional.
Texture & Cluster Creation for Vegetation
Discover how to create the textures and clusters that make foliage assets shine. You’ll work with atlases, generate realistic leaf and bark textures, and combine them into clusters that can be used to speed up vegetation creation.
Modeling Ground Cover and Bushes in SpeedTree
Bring your assets into Unreal Engine 5 and make them shine. You’ll learn to apply foliage shaders, optimize materials for performance, and light your scene to highlight your vegetation. By the end, you’ll present a polished foliage environment as your portfolio-ready final project.
Foliage Shaders & Presentation in Unreal Engine 5
Bring your assets into Unreal Engine 5 and make them shine. You’ll learn to apply foliage shaders, optimize materials for performance, and light your scene to highlight your vegetation. By the end, you’ll present a polished foliage environment as your portfolio-ready final project.
