Scholarship Overview
The Good to Great Scholarship is a fully funded 12-week program preparing recent graduates, trainees, and junior creatives for the film and games industry.
Participants gain hands-on experience in simulated or partner studios, working on real-world workflows, client briefs, and feedback sessions, supported by 50 hours of one-on-one mentoring.
The program builds confidence, networks, and job-ready portfolios.
Course value: $15,000 (fully covered by VicScreen and GameChanger Academy)

Who Can Apply
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be 18 years or older at commencement of studies
- Be a Victoria resident and an Australia citizen or permanent resident
- Have relevant education or training in the film, games, or animation sector
- Have experience or engagement within VFX, games, or animation
- Demonstrate creative and technical capability through a portfolio
- Agree to the terms and conditions in the scholarship offer
We strongly encourage applications from First Nations, first-in-family, disabled, neurodiverse, financially disadvantaged, rural or remote, and culturally diverse or underrepresented communities in VFX, games, and animation.

CGSI Tuition Scholarships are awarded subject to the following terms and conditions:
- All Tuition Scholarship applicants must abide by the advertised eligibility requirements and must provide supporting documentation as proof of eligibility. They must also provide additional documentation (as requested) for each advertised Tuition Scholarship. A failure to provide the requested supporting evidence and documentation may result in an application being disallowed.
- Tuition Scholarships only apply to the course or program for which they have been awarded and are non-transferable. Should a Tuition Scholarship holder wish to make alternative arrangements (for example, a change to their major or area of specialisation), such requests will need to be approved by the relevant Faculty Dean;
- Recipients of all CGSI Tuition Scholarships for accredited courses must be full time students (40 Credit Points in each trimester as per the specific requirements of each course), unless alternative arrangements have been approved by the relevant Faculty Dean or Executive Dean;
- Recipients of Tuition Scholarships for non-accredited courses must commit to full time study as per the requirements of the relevant program;
- Tuition Scholarship recipients must not be holders of another CGSI or other higher education provider scholarship within the same period of time;
- Full and Completion Tuition Scholarships must be taken within the specified study period/s and may only be deferred in exceptional circumstances;
- Where a request for exceptional circumstances is submitted, supporting documentation must be provided and will be subject to approval by the relevant Faculty Dean. If approved, the total deferment period cannot exceed two trimesters. This applies to both Full and Completion Tuition Scholarship holders within accredited courses;
- For Tuition Scholarship holders who are participating in non-accredited programs and courses, deferrals are not permitted, except in exceptional circumstances. Where a request for exceptional circumstances is submitted, supporting documentation must be provided and will be subject to approval by the relevant Faculty Dean;
- All Tuition Scholarship holders must maintain high levels of attendance and meaningful and ongoing engagement with the Scholarship course and its staff;
- Full Scholarship holders in the accredited courses must maintain satisfactory academic standards across all subjects of study. Receiving a fail grade in any accredited subject may result in a review or termination of the Full Tuition Scholarship;
- Completion Scholarship holders in the accredited programs must maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 5 or higher across the study periods prior to the commencement of the Scholarship; receiving a fail grade in any accredited subject prior to commencement of the Completion Scholarship may result in review or termination;
- Where a Full Tuition Scholarship for a non-accredited course has been terminated or revoked, the student may be required to reimburse the Institute for the costs associated with their tuition;
- Where a Full Tuition Scholarship for an accredited course has been terminated or revoked; the student may be required to reimburse the Institute for the costs associated with any subject that the student has enrolled and:
(a) the subject is not completed; or
(b) the student withdraws from the subject post census data,
and no special circumstances exist;
- The Institute is not obliged to award Scholarships if it is determined that there are no/insufficient suitable applicants;
- The Institute reserves the right to offer additional Scholarships at any time and according to eligibility criteria developed by a panel that includes senior members of both the academic and administrative teams at CG Spectrum Institute.
Application Deadline
Applications close on 17 November. Successful applicants will be notified in the second week of December. Some scholarships may be awarded earlier based on industry needs.
CG Spectrum may extend the deadline if needed and will update the program page once all scholarships are awarded.
Unsuccessful Applicants
All applicants will be notified of the outcome by email. While not everyone will receive a scholarship, we encourage you to apply again for future opportunities. We aim to provide individual feedback wherever possible, but due to the volume of applications, this may be limited.

The program is 12 weeks long and will start on 02 February, 2026.
After that, the next intake will be in September.
Please note that these dates are subject to change.
Currently, this program is covered 100% by a scholarship as part of the initiative with the Victorian Government.
Our onsite location in Collingwood has the hardware and software relevant to the program. Students will also be able to access student licenses for relevant software remotely.
The exact software you use will depend on your area of specialization.
To get the most out of the experience, we recommend you take this program in our Collingwood classroom located in LCI Melbourne.
There is no formal qualification awarded for this program.
Applications close on 17 November 2025 AEDT.
The application deadline will close six weeks prior to the scholarship start date. Applicants will be notified of their scholarship award approximately four weeks prior to the start date. CG Spectrum may choose to award a portion of scholarships prior to the Application Deadline based on identified industry requirements and recommendations from industry based in Victoria. The remaining scholarships will be awarded within two weeks of the Application Deadline.
Please note that CG Spectrum reserves the right to extend the Application Deadline if not enough suitable applicants are found prior to the Application Deadline. Once all scholarships are awarded, a general notification will be made on the Good to Great Scholarship web page indicating that new applications are now closed.
