As Senior FX Artist at Scavenger Studios, Stephen shares his well-rounded knowledge of Houdini FX Software including modeling, particles, fluids, rigid bodies, surfacing, compositing, CHOPs, VOPs, HScript, and REYES/Mantra rendering. Proficient with Maya and a range of other tools, Stephen has worked for a number of top film and game studios including Electronic Arts and Digital Domain.
The first half of Stephen’s career was as a Houdini Digital Visual Effects Artist/Technical Director on stereo feature films ranging from fully animated (Gnomeo and Juliet, Happy Feet 2) to live-action (Jack the Giant Slayer, Ender's Game).
Stephen later moved into the games industry both at the indie (Shape of The World, Darwin Project) and AAA level (Mass Effect Andromeda, Battlefront II, Battlefield V) using Houdini, Unreal Engine, and Frostbite.
Stephen has always had an interest in sharing his knowledge and has periodically released online tutorials. Besides being a Mentor of Houdini FX, Stephen has teaching credits at Side Effects Software Inc., DreamWorks, Vancouver Houdini User Group, and Montreal International Games Summit.
