Claire Pegorier

FX Technical Director

Mentor of Houdini FX

Claire Pegorier

Claire Pégorier has more than 25 years' experience as an FX Artist.

A master with Houdini, Maya and Realflow, Claire specializes in fluids, dynamics, particles, cloth, hair and rigid bodies for film, TV and commercials.

Ahead of her game, Claire started her career by writing a standalone tool for cloth animation (about 10 years before a commercial solution existed), which enabled artists to produce dynamically dressed characters.

She built up the cloth department of the Moving Picture Company (MPC) and went on to animate Voldemort's cape, dress up the Oompa Loompas in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and the elves in Fred Claus.

Claire worked on volumetric effects based on fluid simulations such as explosions, rigid bodies, destruction, fog for Cinesite, on notable projects like Battle of LA, X-Men First Class, and Clash of the Titans.

Besides mentoring CG Spectrum students, Claire runs Remote FX, where she delivers effects for films, commercials and broadcast.
