Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be an animator to get something out of this?

No. Roland explains each shot in plain terms: what it needed to get across and how he got it there. If you're already animating, you'll get the detail behind the choices. If you're curious how game cinematics are made, you'll see the process from someone who did the work.

Will Roland talk about unreleased parts of the game?

No. The session covers cinematics that are already publicly released, and the animation choices behind them. Nothing confidential about the production is discussed.

Is this event run by Microsoft or The Coalition?

No. This is a CG Spectrum Institute event, and Roland is talking about his own work on the project. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Microsoft, Xbox Game Studios or The Coalition.

I can't make it live. Can I still watch?

Yes. Register anyway and we'll email you the recording after the session.

How do CG Spectrum Institute's animation courses work?

A mentor reviews your shots regularly, marks them up and sends them back with notes, and you do the fixes. We offer games, animation, VFX and digital art courses, from accredited bachelor degrees through to non-accredited focused courses. A course advisor can talk you through which one fits where you are now.
