There will be an overview of session purpose and structure. We will also set expectations regarding openness, reflection, and participation
We will clarify the difference between management and leadership and discuss common misconceptions about the “first-time manager” role.
We will explore common leadership styles and discuss which styles show up in your teams.
We will explore the transition from peer to leader and what emotional shifts occur. We will also explore the 4 domains of Emotional Intelligence.
We will go through how you connect personal, team, and organizational goals and explore a case study in translating strategy into actionable team objectives.
We will discuss decision-making frameworks and work through a real challenge using structured problem solving.
We will identify trust accelerators (consistency, transparency, fairness) and share trust-building habits.
We will discuss sources of power and influence, “managing up” vs “managing down” in a matrix environment, and navigating competing priorities.
We will define effective delegation and common traps.
We will identify healthy vs unhealthy conflict and introduce a simple framework (e.g., “STATE” or “C.A.L.M.”).
We will explore feedback models and how to deliver feedback that builds trust.
