This workshop requires basic computer literacy.
You will need to download and install the 3D modeling software Autodesk Maya. Download Maya here. Maya offers a 30-day free trial which will cover the duration of the course (and some practice time afterward!).
We also suggest using a notebook or tablet for taking notes.
Please note: You will need to ensure your computer specifications are suitable for the latest version of Maya - outlined here.

Absolutely amazing school!
I recommend it for complete newbs like I was who want to become animators. Mark Pullyblank was an amazing, kind, and helpful mentor who made sure I always knew what I was doing. He's probably one of the most dedicated teachers I know, and made sure he went over everything thoroughly with me and was quick to answer my questions. Definitely 10/10.
I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience at CG Spectrum.
I recently finished Introduction to 3D Modeling course. I went in with about a year’s worth of other online 3D modeling courses, but nothing compared to CG Spectrum. I learnt so much from this course, and I had an amazing mentor (Anton Tenitsky) who pushed me to perfection. It was the best decision I made in order to pursue my end goal. I took the next step and enrolled in the advanced course!
It's been extremely helpful for my portfolio and my confidence as an artist!
I've learned so much about not only animation, but the thought process an artist goes through when creating a piece.
Exceeded all my expectations!
CG Spectrum is an excellent online college. I had the best modeling course there!
I highly recommend signing up with CG Spectrum!
I was looking for a final push to bump my skills and finally start applying for jobs as an artist. Shortly after finishing my Advanced 3D Modeling Course I landed my first job as Junior Environment Artist, which was my dream!
I moved from another school as CG Spectrum offered a more specific program for my needs.
Let me assure you that it was the best move I have ever made. Mentors are current industry professionals so you know that techniques are relevant and I honestly believe that these guys are in it to see you succeed.
CG Spectrum has been an instrumental part of my growth.
CG Spectrum has helped me sharpen my skills, acquire new ones and strengthen my character animation abilities. This is an invaluable experience for anyone looking to take their skills to the next level.
One of the best decisions I've ever made for my career.
I've learned and grown so much throughout this program and I loved the resources in the CG Spectrum community, such as finding new job opportunities and meeting other students and mentors. I took advantage of everything CG Spectrum had to offer and as a result, I landed my dream job at my dream company (Dreamworks). Thank you CG Spectrum!
My experience at CG Spectrum was second to none, and taught me so much more than I initially anticipated.
My mentor took me from being barely computer literate to an animator working at a studio in only a year and a half. The information and level of teaching at CG Spectrum will absolutely not be found anywhere else.
A great school, I loved every second of my course.
The courses are 100% worth it, and I am glad I completed a second year of study. The mentors gave their personal time and advice outside of class, I still contact them for helpful tips and tricks. I also became good friends with my classmates who I ended up hanging out with at PAX. Not only have I gained knowledge from this course, I have also gained a great relationship with my mentors and classmates. I am glad I was able to be part of this amazing school.
