Update to course names

You will have received an email letting you know that our course names are being updated. We hope this information will help you understand the reason for the update and what it means for you. If you have any questions at all, please email hello@cgspectrum.com

In Australia (where our head office is located), under the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act), the word ‘Diploma’ is reserved for higher education providers registered with TEQSA.

As an international school, we are not affiliated with a regionally accredited body and were unaware of this provision. However, we intend to act in accordance with Australian regulatory requirements and have updated the names of our diploma courses.

The following diploma courses will be updated to:

  • 3D Animation Diploma -> 3D Animation Course
  • Advanced 3D Animation Diploma -> Advanced 3D Animation Course
  • 2D Animation Diploma -> 2D Animation Course
  • Advanced 2D Animation Diploma -> Advanced 2D Animation Course
  • Concept Art & Digital Illustration Diploma -> Concept Art & Digital Illustration Course
  • Advanced Concept Art Diploma -> Advanced Concept Art Course
  • Advanced Illustration Diploma -> Advanced Illustration Course
  • 3D Modeling Diploma -> 3D Modeling Course
  • Advanced 3D Modeling Diploma -> Advanced 3D Modeling Course
  • Game Programming Diploma -> Game Programming Course
  • Game Design Diploma -> Game Design Course
  • Foundations of Game Art & Animation Diploma -> Foundations of Game Art & Animation Course
  • Real-Time 3D & Virtual Production Diploma -> Real-Time 3D & Virtual Production Course
  • Foundations of VFX Diploma -> Foundations of VFX Course
  • Houdini FX Diploma -> Houdini FX Course
  • Nuke VFX Compositing Diploma -> Nuke VFX Compositing Course

Note: These are Industry Certificates and do not lead to an award under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Your course leads to an Industry recognised Certificate, but it does not lead to an award under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

There is absolutely no change to your classes or the quality of education you are receiving. We remain committed to helping you meet your education and career goals, and get industry-ready.

For Introductory Certificate course students: this change does not affect you at all.

For Diploma course students: this name change will be reflected on your credential when you graduate (e.g. ‘3D Animation Diploma’ will now be ‘3D Animation Course’, ‘Advanced 3D Modeling Diploma’ will now be ‘Advanced 3D Modeling Course’. See the full list above).

This name change will not impact the quality of your course, or the way the industry recognises CG Spectrum credentials.

CG Spectrum has built an excellent reputation for its high quality industry training and our connections to Industry have strengthened tenfold. Our partnerships with studios continue to grow, and we are now an Unreal Authorized Training Center Unreal Academic Partner, and one of the Rookies’ Top 50 Best Creative Media & Entertainment Art Schools in the World.

Regardless of the credential received, recruiters are looking for a strong portfolio and your ability to demonstrate the skills learned.

That’s why our school focuses on offering high-quality career training plus a range of career services including access to a career development manager, portfolio/CV reviews, interview preparation, exclusive Industry recruitment events and networking opportunities, webinars, a jobs board, careers newsletter, and more.

Our goal is to support you in getting you job-ready with personalized mentorship from industry experts, and small class sizes ensuring you get maximum time with your mentor.
